Russell Road - in progress
A small extension to an existing brick garage, a new timber frame outbuilding with large southern facing sliding doors and zinc roof will form a space for a workshop. With a change of level between the two buildings, a small ramp will provide access for the movement of machinery where a new opening will be cut into the existing corner wall.
The workshop will have high-level windows on the northern facade that create a cross-flow of air, keeping dust and heat to a minimum. The screed floor atop the 250mm reinforced concrete slab will provide a sturdy base for heavy machinery and works inside the new building.
The building will be timber clad - stained black to match the existing timber language on site. A standing seam zinc roof will cascade down from the existing building. A single tall window will be placed within the existing building looking over the pond onto the garden to create a frame of tranquillity when working.
