Elm River Table
This river table is made from a single slab of British Elm cut in 2016. I cast a 2 layer epoxy with a more opaque layer at the bottom and a blue translucent metallic layer on top to mimic the depth of water.
The table is finished with food safe flax-seed oil to a satin finish with the epoxy semi-gloss. The natural finish to the wood contrasts nicely with the epoxy and catches the light to enhance the blue colour.
The legs are steel hairpins that are left in a raw state (oiled for longevity) which give the table a mid-century industrial look that I think complements the vast figuring of the elm slab.
