Yew Concrete Table
The 'waterfall' timber effect in this piece is achieved with a yew slab that is 180+ years old and joined with oak dowels. The grain seamlessly flows from the horizontal plane to the vertical without disruption. Blue epoxy is used to fill knot imperfections in the timber.
The table is finished with food-safe flax-seed oil to a satin finish with the epoxy semi-gloss. The natural finish to the wood contrasts nicely with the dark grey concrete and catches the light to enhance the colours present within the grain of the yew.
The red steel hairpin brace supports the table as is connected from the top timber to the bottom concrete slab.
The concrete is dyed a darker shade of grey to offset the warm colours of the natural yew.
